Opinion polling reveals narrow People’s Party of Aenopia lead; potential coalition proposed

8 March – The results of the first opinion poll for the March 2022 Senedd elections were released today, revealing a narrow vote majority held by the People’s Party of Aenopia, whilst the People’s Party and Aenopian Independence Party won the same number of seats. The opinion poll, conducted from 6 March to 8 March 2022, saw an electorate of eight vote for the candidates they wanted to see in Senedd.

The People’s Party of Aenopia won 2 of the 3 seats contested by the party, confirming Andrew Brotherton and Jayden Rose’s positions in Senedd Aenopia. However, party leader Leon Montan lost the Central Aenopia seat to the Aenopian Independence Party’s Fahim Ahmed. As such, the PPA failed to secure their party leader’s seat in Senedd, meaning that the PPA’s leader cannot be elected to the position of First Minister in the probable event that they garner the most votes during the election.

During the elections proper set to begin tomorrow, this would result in a hung government with the AIP’s party leader being elected as the First Minister. As a result of this, Aenopia Forward leader Jayden Dagsa vocally supported the establishment of an AIP-AF coalition in the eventuality of a hung government.

Voting for the election is set to open at 23:59 UTC tonight.
